Book of Mormon Stories is built to be simple and respectful of your privacy. We collect only what we need to email you about the app and to save your reading progress — nothing more.
What we collect
- Your email address and first name — if you join the “notify me” list, so we can let you know about the app.
- Your in-app activity — the stories you’ve read, your streak and progress, ratings, favorites, and the avatar you pick. This powers the reading experience.
- Basic account info, only if you sign in — if you choose to sign in with Sign in with Apple or Googleto sync across devices, we receive a unique account identifier and, depending on the provider, your name and email. If you use Sign in with Apple’s private-relay email option, we never see your real email address. Signing in is optional; the reader works fully signed out.
Apple Health
On iPhone and Apple Watch, if you grant permission, the app writes your reading time to Apple Health as Mindful Minutes, and reads Mindful Minutes back only to reflect your reading time to you. This Health data stays on your device and in Apple Health — it is never sent to our servers or any third party, and is never used for advertising or tracking. You can turn Health access off at any time in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
How we use it
- To save your reading progress and sync it across your devices.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the app.
What we don’t do
- We don’t track you across other apps or websites.
- We don’t collect device or hardware data, your location, your contacts, or any other personal information beyond what’s described above.
- We don’t show ads or build advertising profiles.
- We don’t sell, rent, or trade your information.
Where your data lives
Your email list entry and any synced progress are stored with Google Firebase (Firestore and Authentication) on Google Cloud. Access is restricted to the app’s administrator.
Your choices
- You can use the reader signed out — your progress simply stays on your own device.
- Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe from future messages.
- You can ask us to see or delete the data associated with you at any time — just get in touch.
Children’s privacy
The app is family-friendly. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children beyond the email, first name, and reading activity described here. If you’re a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided us information you’d like removed, contact usand we’ll take care of it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we’ll update this page and the “last updated” date above.
